Zhejiang DLY Automation Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commissioned another batch of 4-meter three-face grinding machines for linear guide rail production.

The new equipment expands DLY's capacity to process long guide rails used in CNC machinery, automation systems and large industrial equipment. It also supports more stable control of the rail's external reference surfaces.

Unlike the earlier equipment-installation stage, this batch of grinders has completed commissioning and entered operation. Production results must still be confirmed through dimensional and geometric inspection according to the selected guide series and accuracy requirement.

Three-Face Grinding of Linear Guide Rails

Three-face grinding processes the top and two side surfaces of a linear guide rail in a controlled setup. Reducing repeated clamping helps limit positioning differences between separate grinding operations.

These external surfaces establish important references for later processing, inspection and machine installation. Their geometric relationship can influence rail width, height, parallelism and mounting consistency.

Three-face grinding does not independently determine the accuracy of the complete guideway. Raceway grinding, drilling, heat treatment, straightening, block matching and final inspection remain essential parts of the manufacturing process.

Processing Challenges for 4-Meter Guide Rails

Long guide rails require careful support throughout processing. A rail that is not supported correctly may bend under its own weight, producing measurement or grinding errors.

Temperature variation becomes more significant as rail length increases. Machine heat, coolant temperature and workshop conditions can all influence dimensional stability during long grinding cycles.

Grinding-wheel wear must also be monitored. Wheel dressing, feed rate, coolant delivery and processing sequence affect surface condition and dimensional consistency along the complete rail.

The 4-meter equipment provides the processing length required for longer rails, while controlled procedures and inspection determine whether the finished product meets its specified requirements.

Expanded Production Capacity

Adding multiple grinding machines increases the number of rails that can be scheduled for processing and reduces dependence on a single machine. It also provides greater flexibility when different rail sizes or production batches are handled at the same time.

Potential production benefits include:

  • Increased capacity for rails up to the supported processing length
  • More stable multi-surface processing
  • Reduced repeated clamping between external surfaces
  • Improved production scheduling across different batches
  • Better support for standard and customized rail requirements

Actual delivery time continues to depend on the rail series, size, length, accuracy, hole pattern, quantity and current production schedule.

Inspection of Long Linear Guide Rails

Inspection item Purpose
Rail width and height Confirm dimensional conformity
Reference-surface parallelism Evaluate the relationship between processed surfaces
Straightness over the rail length Identify bending and long-range variation
Surface condition Check grinding quality and visible defects
Rail-and-block movement Confirm assembled running condition

Long Linear Guide Rail Requirements

For a long-rail inquiry, the guide series, rail size, total length, quantity, accuracy class and mounting-hole pattern should be provided. Joined-rail requirements must be identified separately from single-piece rails.

DLY can evaluate standard and customized linear guide rail requirements according to the drawing, application and available manufacturing range.
