SCS-UU and SCS-LUU are closed linear bearing blocks that combine an LM linear ball bearing with a compact aluminum housing. The shaft passes completely through the enclosed bearing bore, creating a convenient mounting unit for moving plates, positioning fixtures and machine mechanisms.
SCS-UU uses a standard-length housing, while SCS-LUU provides a longer bearing unit for installations requiring a larger mounting footprint. The complete series covers shaft diameters from 6 to 60 mm, with corresponding dimensional, load-rating and bearing data provided below.
The block can be ordered separately or supplied with a matching round shaft. More shaft sizes and configurations are available in the DLY linear shaft range.
Closed Linear Bearing Block
The SCS housing surrounds the complete circumference of the linear bearing. This closed structure is intended for a round shaft that can pass through the entire block. It should not be installed on a continuously supported rail because the lower part of the housing does not have an opening to clear the rail support.
Integrated Housing
The LM linear bearing is installed inside a rectangular aluminum housing, eliminating the need to machine a separate bearing seat.
Top Mounting Holes
Four threaded holes on the upper surface allow a moving plate or machine component to be fixed directly to the block.
Replaceable Size Matching
Each SCS housing corresponds to an LM bearing with the same nominal shaft diameter, simplifying model identification.
UU and LUU
SCS…UU
Standard-length slide unit for compact mounting plates. Models are available for 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 and 60 mm shafts.
SCS…LUU
Extended slide unit with a longer L dimension. Models are available for 8, 10, 12, 13, 16, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 and 60 mm shafts.
UU and LUU identify the block length, not the shaft diameter. For example, SCS20UU and SCS20LUU both fit a 20 mm shaft, but the LUU block is longer and uses a different longitudinal mounting-hole pitch.
Dimensions
The drawing identifies the housing dimensions, shaft centre position and mounting-hole arrangement. C and B have a tolerance of ±0.2 mm, while E and h have a tolerance of ±0.02 mm. The marks 4-S1 and 4-S2 indicate four mounting positions.

SCS-UU Specifications
Dimensions are stated in millimetres. C is the basic dynamic load rating and C0 is the basic static load rating. Weight is the approximate weight of one complete slide unit.

Selecting the Correct Block
Begin with the nominal shaft diameter, then check the available mounting envelope and load conditions. Selecting only by the bore diameter can result in incorrect mounting-hole positions or insufficient support for an offset load.
- Shaft diameter: the number in the SCS model must match the nominal shaft diameter.
- Mounting length: check L and C before changing between UU and LUU.
- Installation height: confirm h, F and the moving-plate position within the machine assembly.
- Applied moment: consider the distance between the load centre and the shaft, not only the vertical force.
- Block spacing: greater spacing between two blocks generally improves moment resistance but increases the required platform length.
Shaft and Installation Requirements
The shaft should be straight, clean and compatible with a recirculating linear ball bearing. Shaft deflection must be considered when the shaft is supported only at its ends, especially when the travel span or applied load increases.
- Remove burrs from the shaft end and use a suitable chamfer to prevent damage to the bearing seals and ball retainer.
- Insert the shaft in line with the bearing bore. Do not force the block onto a misaligned shaft.
- Install the shaft supports without twisting the shaft or creating parallelism error between two shafts.
- Attach the moving plate using the specified S1 mounting thread and tighten the screws evenly.
- Move the assembly through its complete stroke and check for local resistance before operating under power.
Lubrication and Maintenance
A suitable lubricant should be applied to the internal ball circuit before operation and replenished according to travel distance, speed and environmental conditions. The shaft surface should remain free from chips, abrasive dust and dried contamination.
If movement becomes uneven, inspect shaft alignment, lubrication condition, surface damage and contamination before replacing the bearing. Increasing screw torque will not correct a misaligned two-shaft assembly.

FAQ
Q: Can an SCS block run on a supported round rail?
A: A standard SCS block has a closed housing and cannot pass over a continuous rail support. It is normally used with a round shaft whose support structure remains outside the block travel path.
Q: Can SCS20UU be replaced with SCS20LUU?
A: Both models fit a 20 mm shaft, but the L dimension changes from 50 to 96 mm and the C mounting-hole pitch changes from 40 to 70 mm. The moving plate must therefore have sufficient space and the correct hole layout.
Q: Does the SCS model include the internal LM bearing?
A: The listed SCS slide unit is configured with the corresponding LM linear bearing shown in the specification table. Confirm whether a complete assembled unit or housing-only supply is required when ordering.
Q: What do S1 and S2 represent?
A: S1 identifies the four threaded mounting holes on the top of the block. S2 identifies the four lower mounting-hole positions shown in the dimensional drawing.
Q: What information is needed for model confirmation?
A: Provide the shaft diameter, required UU or LUU version, block quantity, shaft length, support spacing, moving load and available mounting dimensions. A drawing is recommended for two-shaft or multiple-block assemblies.
