Heavy duty linear guide rails are not limited to one structure. In DLY's product range, heavy-duty guideways are mainly divided into the HD Series and the RD Series. Both are designed for high-load linear motion, but their rolling elements and application focus are different.

HD Series Heavy Duty Ball Linear Guide Rails

The DLY HD Series is a ball type heavy duty linear guideway. It uses steel balls as rolling elements between the rail and the block. This structure provides low rolling resistance, smooth movement and stable positioning while supporting loads from radial, reverse radial and lateral directions.

HD Series is suitable when the equipment requires a reliable heavy-load guide rail, but still needs smooth running, good speed performance and easier installation adjustment. For many CNC machines, automation lines, machining centers and general industrial machines, HD Series provides a balanced solution between load capacity, precision, motion smoothness and cost.

Where HD Series Performs Well

HD Series is a good choice for machines that need high load capacity and smooth linear motion, but do not require the maximum rigidity of a roller guideway. Its ball circulation structure helps reduce motion resistance and supports stable movement across long working strokes.

RD Series Heavy Duty Roller Linear Guide Rails

The DLY RD Series is a roller type heavy duty linear guideway. Unlike HD Series, RD Series uses cylindrical rollers instead of steel balls. The roller structure creates a larger contact area between the rolling element and the raceway, helping the guideway reduce elastic deformation and maintain higher rigidity under heavy load.

RD Series is more suitable for demanding machine structures where rigidity is more important than general motion smoothness. It is commonly selected for heavy-duty cutting equipment, CNC grinding machines, gantry machines, injection molding machines and applications where the guideway must keep stable accuracy under high load, vibration or impact conditions.

Why RD Series Uses Rollers

A ball guideway mainly provides point contact, while a roller guideway provides line contact. This gives RD Series stronger rigidity and better load distribution. When the machine is working under heavy cutting force, large workpiece weight or repeated impact load, the roller type structure helps reduce deformation and supports more stable long-term motion accuracy.

For applications that require maximum stiffness, RD Series is normally the more suitable heavy-duty choice than a standard ball type guideway.
