ED Low Profile Guide Block
ED Low Profile Guide Block for Compact Linear Motion Systems
DLY ED low profile guide blocks are compact linear guide carriage blocks designed for equipment with limited installation height. The ED series uses a four-row ball circulation structure to provide stable linear motion, four-direction load capacity and reliable positioning in a lower assembly height than standard guide block structures.
EDH square blocks and EDW flange blocks are available in medium-load and heavy-load types. They are suitable for automation equipment, semiconductor machines, laser machines, packaging machinery, precision measuring equipment and compact motion systems where space saving, smooth movement and stable guiding are required.
Product Features
The ED series is designed for compact equipment where the guide system must stay low while still maintaining rigidity and smooth motion. Compared with standard-height linear guide blocks, ED low profile guide blocks reduce assembly height and block length, making them suitable for high-speed automation and space-limited machine structures.
With four rows of circulating steel balls and a four-direction load design, ED guide blocks can support radial, reverse-radial and lateral loads. The self-aligning capability helps absorb small mounting errors and improves running stability when the guideway is installed correctly.
EDH and EDW Series Selection
DLY ED low profile guide blocks are mainly available in EDH square type and EDW flange type. The model suffix helps identify load type and mounting direction.

ED vs HD vs RD Linear Guide Blocks
ED, HD and RD series should be selected according to installation height, load requirement and rigidity demand. ED is the compact low-profile option; HD is the standard/heavy-duty ball guide block series; RD is the roller-type series for higher rigidity and heavier load.
| Series | Main Feature | Best For | Selection Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| ED Series | Low-profile ball guide block with shorter block length | Compact automation, semiconductor equipment, small motion systems | Lower height and space saving |
| HD Series | Standard and heavy-duty ball guide block structure | CNC, laser machines, general automation, packaging machinery | Higher rigidity than compact low-profile structures |
| RD Series | Roller-type guide block for higher rigidity and load capacity | Machine tools, heavy-duty axes, precision equipment | Heavy load and high rigidity |

FAQ About ED Low Profile Guide Blocks
What is an ED low profile guide block?
It is a compact linear guide carriage block designed with lower assembly height and shorter block length for space-limited automation equipment.
What is the difference between EDH and EDW?
EDH is a square block for compact mounting. EDW is a flange block with a wider mounting surface for easier installation on plates or machine bases.
What is the difference between SA, CA, SB and CB?
S refers to medium load, C refers to heavy load, A refers to mounting from top, and B refers to mounting from bottom.
When should I choose ED instead of HD?
Choose ED when installation height is limited or the machine needs a more compact guide system. Choose HD when higher rigidity and heavier load capacity are more important than compact height.
Can ED blocks be replaced separately?
Within permissible accuracy and interchangeability conditions, ED blocks can be replaced separately, but rail model, block type, accuracy grade, preload and dimensions should be confirmed first.
What information is needed for quotation?
Please provide model number, rail width, block type, rail length, accuracy grade, preload requirement, mounting direction, quantity and application. Photos or drawings are helpful for replacement projects.
